– President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to make a two day State visit to Kampala , Uganda to attend the 15th Summit of EAC Heads of State.

The President has been in the forefront championing regional integration and his Government has made huge steps in removing Non-Tariff Barriers.

President Kenyatta’s government has streamlined the Mombasa port operations which have positively impacted the movement of cargo within the region.

Currently the movement of cargo from the port of Mombasa to the border point of Malaba takes six days from the earlier period of three weeks.

At the EAC Summit, the regional leaders are expected to endorse the Monetary Union protocol which provides for the roadmap to a common currency for East Africa Community member States.

The President and his EAC counterparts are also scheduled to hold a meeting with the chief executives and media owners of the member states.

The EAC leaders will also address a joint public rally at Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala.
