Miss World in Kenya for pageant finale

The reigning Miss World, Ivian Sarcos is in Nairobi to attend the finals of the Miss World Kenya contest that takes place this weekend.

She arrived from Ghana last night, accompanied by the Miss World CEO, Julia Morley, Miss World Europe Alize Mounter, and several beauty queens from across Africa.

Ivian is expected to be the guest of honour at the event, co-sponsored by Snapp, scheduled for the Sarit Centre on Saturday evening.

“It is a big honor and a privilege for us to host the reigning beauty, we acknowledge the works of charity she has been doing and Miss Ivian is a classic example of a true beauty with a purpose,” crooned Terry Mungai, the Miss World Kenya Franchise holder.

Apart from the Kenyan finale, Sarcos is also expected to be involved in various charitable activities, primarily focusing on water conservation.

“We are proud to be associated with this high profile event. We guarantee to support the various activities that the beauty queens will be involved in to the greater benefit of the society,” said the EABL Marketing Director Caroline Ndung’u.

Her visit comes barely a year after Miss World 2010; Alexandria Mills visited the country for a charity mission, which took her to Central Kenya to witness work being done on eradicating jigger infestations in the region.

At Saturday’s event, Kenya’s representative for the Miss World competition in China will be chosen, and she will also win a cool Sh1 million to set her off. The reigning Miss Kenya Nancy Onyango will hand over the tiara at finale.

The contest carried the theme “Beauty with a Purpose” and it is expected to elevate the standards of Kenyan contestants that make it to international beauty pageants. Check out their progress here.
