Kenya Fashion Week 2025: A Sold-Out Celebration Of Creativity, Talent, And Industry Growth

Kenya Fashion Week 2025 took center stage on Saturday, November 1st, at Sankara Hotel, Nairobi, in a spectacular showcase of innovation, talent, and design excellence. The full-day event featured the Student Fashion Design Awards (SFDA) in the morning and an electrifying Main Show in the evening, both drawing audiences from across Kenya’s creative, fashion, and business communities.

Student Fashion Design Awards (SFDA)
The morning session spotlighted 16 finalists from five fashion institutions across the country, each presenting their final-year designs before an esteemed panel of judges:
● Isabel Achilla, Head of Brand, Vivo
● Brian Kihindas, Kenya Fashion Council & Nairobi Fashion Week
● Lucy Rao, Fashion Designer & Chairperson, Kenya Fashion Council
● Silvia Tonui, Creative DNA

After an inspiring showcase of creativity and craftsmanship, the top three winners were
announced:

  1. Tonny Mutua – Machakos Institute of Technology
  2. Gloria Munywoki – Machakos Institute of Technology
  3. Nicole Tikolo – MEFA Institute of Design

The SFDA also hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion themed “From Classroom to Catwalk: Reimagining Fashion Education and Employability in Kenya”, bringing together industry experts, educators, and creatives to discuss the evolving landscape of fashion education and opportunities for young designers.

The Main Show
The evening show was a sold-out success, delivering an unforgettable red-carpet experience followed by a dynamic runway showcase starting at 6:30 PM. The event featured 29 exceptional designers, unveiling collections that spanned garments, jewelry, swimwear, and leather accessories , a true testament to Kenya’s diverse and growing fashion ecosystem. The atmosphere was electric, with guests, media, and industry leaders celebrating the artistry and innovation defining Kenya’s fashion future.

Kenya Fashion Week continues to cement its role as the leading platform for connecting design, culture, and commerce in East Africa.
