There’s something about flowers that can lift our spirits and bring a smile to our faces. They bring beauty, calmness and joy at all times. Flowers can typically change your ‘rough’ day into a one of peace, and happiness.

Kenya is the fourth largest flower exporter in the world. According to Kenya Flower Council, Kenya earned about 110 billion shillings in 2021 from flower exports, making the fresh produce among the top foreign exchange earners alongside tea, diaspora remittances and tourism. European Union and the United Kingdom accounted for about 70 percent of all flower exports.

On the eve of Mothers’ day, May 13th, Kenya Flower Festival hosted a special event dubbed Sip and Arrange edition in honor of the mothers dubbed Mother’s Day Flower Soiree and High Tea. The event which took place at the Fairmont Norfolk, brought together mothers and daughters for an afternoon of celebration and networking.

The event commenced with a flower arranging workshop and demonstration that allowed the participants to each create an arrangement of their choice based on the learning from the workshop. The room oozed with floral scents and beautiful huge range of flower varieties sponsored by Molo Greens farm and the two breeders; Interplant Roses, United Selections who are flower breeders for the farms both locally and internationally.
The beautiful flower arrangements were curated by Floral Art Kenya and Wedding Design center, both who are florists by profession and have over 20 years of arranging flowers.
The women enjoyed high tea as they shared in different conversations about motherhood with various speakers at the event.

Sip and Arrange Flowers is an exclusive and more intimate flower club/community event that has recently been launched as part of the continuity of the annual main Kenya Flower Festival’s activities.
All these activities in the year culminate to the main elaborate flower festival in October, whose main objective is to inculcate a culture of flower uptake in Kenya and Africa as we continue to make flowers a lifestyle. Sip and Arrange attracts flower enthusiasts and flower DIY lovers, for networking purposes and therapeutic activities.
