February 7, 2011 – Lilian, the fiery musician from Uganda’s most successful girl-band (Blu3) has released the video for her latest new single ‘Kawa’.
Kawa which means normal in Swahili, was shot at the Cayenne Bar & Restaurant in Kampala by Market Makers (Gasuza & Onoh).
According to her manager, Miriam, the song is part of Lilian’s first solo album, which is due out later in the year.
“She has so far completed six tracks. The two singles released so far are ‘Kawa’ and ‘Vitamin’ with Weasel from Goodlyfe. The album is still untitled but we expect it to be completed within the next few months,” she says to Capital Lifestyle.
Lilian-of-the-sultry-voice took a short break last year to tend to the joys of motherhood but is back to a full-time work schedule now.
Though she is working alone now, the band is still very much a unit, says Miriam.
“Right now Blu 3 is on a break as a group as they each pursue their individual solo projects and interests,” she explains.
Kawa can be classified as ‘soft’ house and qualifies as a new sound for East Africa. The fact that it has drops of (Jupiter) Swahili in it will guarantee its regional appeal.
