Fire razes Passenger Bus along Busia-Kisumu highway

KISUMU, Kenya, Feb 16 – A passenger bus caught fire along Busia Kisumu highway at Lihanda centre in Gem sub county.

The Nairobi bound bus was heading towards Kisumu when it went up in flames around 9 pm.

According to reports, all the passengers were accounted for after they were rescued from the burning bus, with no injury recorded.

However, luggages were not spared as they got consumed in the blaze. The cost of the damage has not been quantified.

Preliminary investigations point to faulty bus battery, where the fire is reported to have originated from.

Locals who responded to the tragedy were helpless as they could not put out the fire.

Fire fighters from Siaya town, arrived when the bus had been completely consumed by fire.
