Parody King Eric Omondi keeps it fresh and funny, and although sometimes his jokes might go too far, he is always quick to get back to business. The business of making people laugh.
Daystar University alum Eric Omondi broke down the intriguing persona of Willy Paul in the latest edition of his hit series “How to be…” Based on a poll, Omondi went on to explore the key elements of what made one of Kenya’s biggest hitmakers Willy Paul, such a success.
Unfortunately, the video was taken down from the video-sharing site YouTube, after it was released and had already reached 70K views. Omondi and his team soon re-uploaded the video in 4K resolution making it clear, that nothing could dim their shine.
Although he did not mention the reasons behind the takedown, Omondi took to Instagram to clear up the situation. He uploaded where he is seen seated on a bed with renowned DJ Mellow re-enacting the hit track ‘Hallelujah”. In the scene, Omondi sings “He wrote, “Mi ni fundi wa slow-motion, matendo yangu slow nitakupaka slow motion, mama nikupake…In the hilarious parody, DJ Mellow (who plays Nandy in the scene) retorts, “We nimkunaji, umenikuna upele…(kwa mgongo) mchezo mi sina nitasongesha nywele (Kwa mgongo)…)

In the video outlines the major steps to take to become Willy Paul:
Step one: Become Born Again – One of the most notable cameos include Mammito who plays Gloria Muliro, the duo re-enact the 2014 gospel release ‘Sitolia’.
Step two: Pose – One of Willy Paul’s most talked about traits is the fact that he comes off as self-absorbed. Formerly a Gospel musician, his transition into secular music has seen him become like every other artist who’s confidence turns into arrogance. Eric does well to point out Willy Paul’s struggles with women; that has remained a topic of discussion for many. He recreated the track ‘Fanya’.
Step three: Look for a cute girl: In this section of the video DJ Mellow plays Nandy as they re-mix the hit track ‘Njiwa.’ The duo executed the song with precision but the hilarious lyrics keep the audience thoroughly entertained. The provocative shots compliment the on-screen chemistry between the two.
Step four: Release a semi-gospel track: DJ Mellow also plays African Princess, as they do their own version of ‘Hallelujah.’ And the result is a rib-cracking track, as the two make reference to the memorable bed onstage.
Omondi only revealed 4 steps to his 5 step plan and as the video goes viral, some have made some entertaining suggestions on who he should impersonate next. Fans have made requests for him to feature his ex-fiance Chantel Grazioli and political heavyweight Miguna Miguna in the next installments of his “How to be” series.
