Smooth crooner Nadia Mukami has released a new socially consciously standalone single dubbed “Single Mother,” a mellow track that pays tribute to women raising kids single-handedly.
As per Mukami, the new song drew inspiration from actress Jackie Matubia, who has in the recent past made headlines after narrating tales of her experience with her daughter’s alleged deadbeat father, Blessing Lung’aho.
The song’s chronicles single mothers’ universal struggles among them being relentlessly blamed, ridiculed and insulted, despite their dedication to parenting alone. Then, the plot twists that ensue when the kids grow up wrapped in love, excel in school and end up successful, while the mother finds love again.
Matubia was the subject of multiple think pieces for days on end, after many internet users opined that she was too fixated on the story of her second baby daddy abandoning their daughter, an opinion that divided her followers.
