Justin Timberlake’s License Suspended Following Driving While Intoxicated Charges

Popular American singer Justin Timberlake has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of driving while intoxicated. This plea was made during a virtual court appearance last week, during which a judge ruled that Timberlake’s driver’s license should be suspended in New York.

The incident leading to these charges occurred on June 18, when the 43-year-old singer was stopped in Sag Harbor, approximately 160 kilometres east of New York City. Police observed Timberlake’s BMW running a stop sign and having difficulty staying within the lanes.

According to the police report, the officer who stopped Timberlake noted several signs of intoxication: “His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, there was a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, he was unable to divide his attention, his speech was slowed, he was unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Judge Carl Irace has suspended Timberlake’s driving privileges in New York state for the duration of the case, according to the star’s lawyer, Edward Burke. Burke maintains that Timberlake was not intoxicated at the stop, claiming he had only consumed one martini.
