Obado’s Sh73.5mn fraud hearing to kick off tomorrow

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 8 – Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his four children are expected to appear before in court on Tuesday over the theft of Sh73.5 million during his tenure.

According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the hearings are scheduled to take place at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on tomorrow until Thursday.

“Former Migori County Governor and seven others are charged with conspiracy to commit an economic crime and conflict of interest relating to misappropriation of public funds of 73.5 million,” the antigraft body indicated.

The former Governor had been charged in 2020 alongside his two sons Dan Achola and Jerry Zachary and his two daughters Susan Scarlet and Evelyn Adiambo.

Investigations revealed that the owners and directors of the companies involved his three associates Jared Kwanga and his wife Christine Akinyi, Patroba Ochanda, and Joram.

The companies involved include Misoft, Tarchdog Printers, Deltrack ICT services, Seletrack Consultants, Mactebac Contractors, Joysush Business, Swyfon Engineering, Atinus Services, Kajulu Business, Victorious Investment, Dolphus Software, Dankey Press and Pesulus Services.
