NAIROBI, Kenya June 18 – Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore has broken her silence over the Karen house saga, saying she paid for it.
Bore said she is the new owner of the house at Amara Ridge after paying 10 percent, dismissing claims that she forcefully occupied the property belonging to Gatanga MP Edward Muriu.
“In compliance with the respective clauses of the agreement, I sourced a 10 percent deposit from my Sacco and paid directly to the vendor’s lawyers’ account via RTGS,” she said in a statement after Muriu’s wife went public accusing her of forcefully occupying the house.
The CS has accused the sellers of the house of dramatizing the matter to get her out after getting a better deal.
“The dramatized and sensational allegations are fabricated to unlawfully dissociate the agreement ostensibly because they have found a better deal,” she said.
According to the sellers, she expressed interest to buy the property at Sh90 million but was told it can only go for Sh120 million but she went ahead to occupy the empty house when the owners were away. She denies the allegations.
And when the owners sent in a contractor to renovate it, he was ejected by armed police officers attached to the CSs house.
“As far as we are concerned, this is our house and we have not sold it to the CS because we still have all the documents and she has not matched the offer,” said Mary Mureu, the property owner.
On Saturday, Water Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome dismissed social media reports that she was the official at the center of the scandal involving the multi-million palatial home in Karen.
Wahome tweeted Saturday after her name featured prominently on social media that she is the one who has forcibly occupied a private property at Amara Ridge and thrown out the owners despite having not paid for it.
“That story of a house in Karen involving a CS, leave me out. I m not the one. Sorry, Kenyans on Twitter. You missed this one,” she tweeted.
