Photos: Beauty Queen Phoina Tosha’s One-Year Anniversary Bash of Phoina Beauty

Time flies so fast. A time like this last year, renowned make up artist, content creator and entrepreneur Phoina Tosha made some bold boss moves: launching her own cosmetics beauty line and opening Phoina nail bar and beauty parlour in Nairobi. Well, good things must be celebrated as a reflection of the journey that one has made.

On Wednesday afternoon 5th of April 2023, Phoina invited her family and close friends to a luncheon at Entim Sidai, Karen to celebrate with her, the one year anniversary of her hugely successful Phoina beauty brand. Full of glitz and glam, guests arrived, dressed in bold colors, looking gorgeous, as expected in any of Phoina’s events. The event was graced by politicians, celebrated clergy, media personalities, social media influencers, journalists, singers/ artists, make up artists etc.

If there’s one industry in the country that seems to be recording a huge growth, its the beauty industry in Kenya. It has been estimated that the market for beauty products and services in the country is valued at over KES 100 billion, making it one of the most attractive markets for investors. This, according to Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

Phoina, whose cosmetic line includes seven lipsticks, a colour palette and a highlighter, says growing up, she watched her mum, her biggest cheerleader and inspiration, interact with make-up. ” You know that saying that some things are better learnt than taught. Seeing her love make-up got me so interested. One trend that I loved the most from her had to be the use of the dark line and lip-gloss.”

Kenya is presently recognized as the sales and distribution hub for the larger East African market, which many international brands are scrambling to tap into.

The location of the luncheon was truly a magical environment, a place where you journey into the unspoiled landscape and lush forests of Entim Sidai as you unwind and explore the tranquil sights and sounds of the existing extensive gardens providing a fantastic view of Ngong Hills. The set up was beautiful, with plenty of color all around on the lawns of the venue.
