When you visit someone’s home in China, it is reported that you will most assuredly be offered tea while in Britain, afternoon tea is considered an essential part of the British life. In Japan, there are thousands of people that attend special tea schools to learn how to perform the very intricate Tea Ceremony while in Kenya, you are most certain you will drink chai at 9 O’clock and at 4 O’clock.

The General Manager Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi & Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara, Ms Petra Baumann hosted an exclusive High Tea in celebration of International Women’s Day, at the 88 Lounge and Restaurant located on the first floor of Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi. The high tea was in honor of gallant women who, through their bravery and selflessness, have changed our social, cultural and political trajectory. In the words of Cher, American singer, actress and television personality, “Women are the real architects of society.”






Guests enjoyed the high tea offering which included a selection of classic English scones, homemade cakes and pastries, finger sandwiches and plenty of Moet and Chandon, toasting to the accomplishments and achievements of the women in the room, but all around the world, globally.







International Women’s Day celebrated on the 8th of March every year, is a global holiday that recognizes women’s incredible achievements, raises awareness and encourages others to advocate for gender equality.
The Chief Guest Amb. (Dr). Amina C. Mohamed EGH CAV Cabinet Secretary Sports Culture & Heritage, urged society and Kenyans at large to work together in building legal and policy frameworks that will ensure the protection of women and the realization of equality in gender representation both in the political and corporate worlds.




















Some of the invited guests included Agnes Gathaiya, Country Director for East Africa at Google, Jessica Posner Odede, an internationally recognized social entrepreneur, CEO of Girl Effect, and the co-founder of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), Dr. Patricia Murugami, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Breakthrough Leadership Transformation, Jane Pinto, Immediate Past Chairperson and Patron of the Association International Table Tennis Federation just to mention but a few.


















International Women’s Day is also a time to celebrate the contributions of women throughout history—and the women who will continue to shape the future.
