#EditorsPicks: Matte lipsticks we currently can’t live without

Editors Pick - Matte Lipsticks

If you’ve ever had a creamy lipstick on while trying to devour some greasy chicken then you know the struggle is real. One minute you look like a poised version of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct and then next like Heath Ledger as the Joker in Dark Night. A hot mess!

It’s no surprise matte lipsticks have surged in popularity in the beauty industry. Not only does the lipstick last for ages but it also helps to know that it won’t budge once you apply it.

Trust me, there’s nothing like knowing you can drink, eat and even kiss without worrying about any transfer.

With the world’s biggest beauty brands flocking the market with matte liquid lipsticks in as many hues as you can count, you can bet that we’ve sampled a good number and found some of our current faves.

Word of advice though, make sure you’ve exfoliated your lips and put the thinest layer of lip balm on before you apply your matte lipstick as it will help with application and wear (respectively)! After all, dry flaky lips before applying lipstick will still be dry faking lips even after applying lipstick. Not cute.

Here are some brands and colours we would highly recommend!

Editors Pick Matte Lipsticks Nouba

Sharon Mundia: Nouba Millebaci No. 6

I’m absolutely obsessed with this colour! It’s a beautiful muted red colour with a slight brown undertone that makes it a little moody but still sultry. I also love the applicator wand as it allows you to draw in the colour perfectly but it does take practice to get it just right!

Editors Pick Matte Lipsticks Maybelline

Maureen Ojunga: Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in Rich Ruby 691

I love this colour because it’s easy to wear, lasts a long time and doesn’t dry out my lips. Every girl must own a red lipstick and this particular one happens to work beautifully with my complexion!

Editors Pick Matte Lipsticks Sleek

Susan Wong: Sleek Matte Me in Fandango Purple

This colour is always so vibrant and cheers-up even the dullest of complexions. Best of all, it lasts for a very long time, hardly transfers and with a little bit of lip balm underneath yours lips will stay nice and moist!
