#Gadgets: Oculus to start taking virtual reality headset orders

Facebook-owned Oculus VR will begin taking orders for its Rift virtual reality headsets on Wednesday, as the doors of Consumer Electronics Show gadget extravaganza officially open in Las Vegas.

Oculus on Monday did not disclose pricing or when headsets would ship, but promised to share “everything you need to know to order your Rift” when pre-orders go live at 8:00 am (1600 GMT) in California, where the company is based.

Rift pre-orders will come with two games, “Lucky’s Tale” and “Eve:Valkyrie.”

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will field questions during a Reddit AMA set to begin at 6:00 pm on Wednesday (0200 GMT Thursday).

Oculus VR wooed software makers in September with the promise of a budding “virtual reality era” and an alliance with streaming television powerhouse Netflix.

Some 1,500 people already intrigued by the potential of virtual reality packed the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles for keynote presentations at a second annual Oculus Connect developers conference.

“We believe the more power people have to share and experience all kinds of different things in the world, the better the world will be,” Facebook co-founder and chief Mark Zuckerberg told the audience during a brief appearance on stage.

“After video, the next logical step is fully immersive virtual reality.”

Facebook bought Oculus VR last year in a deal valued at $2 billion, heralding virtual reality as the next generation computing platform and one that will let people instantly “travel” to new places.

The Consumer Electronics Show is expected to feature an array of virtual reality offerings hoping to challenge headsets to be fielded by Oculus, Sony, and Valve.

It will be difficult for Hon. Mudavadi to associate with Hon. Ngilu. Ngilu is a reckless politician who has physically attacked government officials in the past. She is actually supposed to be in jail for criminal offences. However, male victims of her recklessness have allowed the matter to pass just to avoid public ridicule. She once attacked a PC in Mombasa when she was a presidential candidate. Apparently, she was “angered” by the PC for keeping her waiting for “too” long. She was later reported to have attacked a DC. Only the other day, she was locked up for unruly behaviour in a police station. Mudavadi on his party, is totally opposite of all this seemingly mad behavior. It would therefore be hard sell to have combination of such people. Ngilu’s best hope is Raila, the master of dramas like her. Infact, she has found it hard to synchronize with VP Kalonzo because of her maddening and unpredictable conduct. However, she has had to cook up flimsy excuses to explain her unending hostility towards ever diplomatic Kalonzo. But reliable sources on the ground predict her political end this time round.

Mudavadi’s future is only assured in ODM. there is no reason to decamp from the party, only excuses orchestrated by his supporters. ODM agreed to amend the constitution to accommodate his ambitions. Let Him push the party  therefore to solidify their promises with sound deadline(s). if the party does not do the needful as promised, then he can call them bluff.. To leave just because ODM priotised registration sounds trivial for a presidential candidate

Mudavadi will be better off without Odm. Infact, the loaded propaganda by the party deliberately suggesting from the very beginning that he was about to jump ship, was enough to get the desired results. Its therefore not Mudavadi to blame but dictators holding sway in Odm. Obviously, if unity and democracy was intented, the party leader would have gone to all lengths to talk things out with Mudavadi. But what have we been seeing? Loaded insults and “you can leave if you want” attitude. However, its better for the country to have Odm die out!
