Comedian Russell Brand filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” from his Pop princess Katy Perry, whom he married back in October 2010 after meeting at the MTV Music Awards in September 2009.

It seems the split was mutual as both Brand and Perry decided that the Comedian would file the divorce papers to keep Perry’s religious parents happy, reports say.

Guess the extensive traveling and time spent apart really dried up the passion as Perry spent most of their marriage spearheading her World tour whilst Brand traveled extensively for his own stand-up tour in Europe and North America.

Perry has been quiet on her side, but estranged husband Brand has released a statement saying that “the two will always love each other and remain friends.” Really?
