Nigerian rising star Joeboy has made quite the impression, going international almost instantly after the release of ‘Baby’.
The 20-something star is a tall and lanky young man who seems well put together and on a path to greatness. With a considered tongue, he chats about his love for athleisure brand Adidas, and as the interview begins Joeboy opens about his experience at the Mr. Eazi-led EmPawa music incubator. Joeboy also spoke about his meteoric rise, afrobeats latest sub-genre Banku music as well as his experience of working with ‘Supernova’ crooner Mr. Eazi on various projects. Before joining emPawa, Eazi and Joeboy worked together on a track dubbed ‘Faaji’ which garnered some attention. The release later became popular after Joeboy was announced as part of the emPawa 100.
As earlier reported on The Sauce, as part of plans to support local music, Google announced it would support to up to 10 emerging Nigerian music artists through Mr. Eazi’s emPawa Africa initiative to build their craft. emPawa Africa was an initiative launched in 2018 as reported, to support the next generation of African artists, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, network, and investment they need to become independent music entrepreneurs.
