Mr Eazi launches emPawa Mentorship Programme for 100 African artists

From London to Nairobi, Mr. Eazi unveils a mentorship programme for 100 artists in 6 African countries.

Nigerian Afropop star Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade alias Mr. Eazi officially unveiled The “emPawa” Accelerator Artists Programme –  Africa in Nairobi yesterday, 14th November 2018. The new project is set to empower Africa’s best young talent to shoot for global success.

Empawa is a collaborative effort between the “Leg Over” singer, betting company Betpawa and other stakeholders in the industry. This latest African entrepreneurial and artistic platform will uplift over 100 African musicians every year and change the lives of some of Africa’s best unsigned musical talent.

According to Eazi, during the unveiling, since he came up two years ago, he has been helping young talented artists reach their full potential. Therefore this project’s main aim will be to find Africa’s next batch of superstars from online platforms with the hashtag #emPawa100 alongside the slogan of betting small (which is the participating part) to win big (which is when the artist is able to grow).

The 27-year-old intends to equip these upcoming talents with the necessary tools they need to be successful like he was, these include funds, mentorship, contacts and an in-depth knowledge of the industry.

From L-R Soundset creative founder Tim Adeka, Musician Blinky Bill, Nigerian star Mr. Eazi and producer Guilty Beatz

The emPawa incubator mentors will include renowned international DJ/Producer Diplo of Major Lazer, UK singer & songwriter Raye, Nigerian producer E Kelly, Guilty Beatz, and Fred Gibbson.

The year-long project will be undertaken in parts, part one will see potential candidates submit their original work or covers on Instagram with the #emPawa100 by 15th December 2018 to be considered. Between December and January 2019, Eazi will pick 100 artists from across 6 African countries – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana and Rwanda whom he will give a grant of 3000USD which will be used to fund their music videos which will be featured on Eazi’s YouTube and social media channels. The panel of experts will then choose the top 10 artists from the 100 and will get a chance to be part of a 3-week masterclass in South Africa with the mentors.

Finally, two finalists from the masterclass will be selected to appear at Ghana party in the Park concert in London in 2019 in front of 8000 people and will collaborate with Eazi on future projects.

This internationally acclaimed artist is fresh off the release of his anticipated mixtape Life is Eazi – Vol 2: Lagos to London featuring songs like “Property”, “Keys to the city” and “London Town” which he debuted at a listening party at Kiza Lounge last night 14th November 2018.
