Showmax Hosts An Exclusive Premiere Event For Kyallo Kulture Season 2

Ahead of its official premiere, Showmax held an exclusive screening event for the second season of Kyallo Kulture on Friday 19 May.

Held at Radisson Blu, Upper Hill, the event was hosted by radio presenter Lotan Salapei. In attendance were the Kyallo sisters – Betty, Mercy and Gloria, accompanied by their mother Julia, who was also featured in the first season of the reality series. Also gracing the event was Kyallo Kulture’s creator and executive producer Eugene Mbugua, the production team, members of the press and influencers.

Kyallo Kulture season two follows the Kyallo sisters on their journeys, separately as well as together, as they relearn each other and attempt to answer the question: ‘What’s my next move?”

“This will be a very successful season two because we have grown as young women. I’ve also grown as a mum and a business person,” said Betty, speaking about the new season and what to expect. “I felt like I was very timid in season one, but this season I’m very vulnerable and raw.”

For Mercy, whose journey will be the main focus of the season, the best thing about Kyallo Kulture season two is the special bond they share as sisters, and also about her journey. “Season one was tough for me; I had to rediscover myself and rediscover my sisters, and also get a new job. You will see in season two that I get back in the groove of things.”

Gloria, the youngest of the Kyallo sisters, is looking forward to sharing more of her youth with her fans this new season but it hasn’t been easy balancing the show’s filming schedules and school. “The production team has been very supportive and understanding to work around my schedule because they still want me to get the best grades,” said Gloria. “Having my sisters around me has also really helped; they’re always pushing me to be the best that I can be.”

This new season builds on the success of Kyallo Kulture S1, which was a hit with Kenyan viewers, becoming one of the top 10 most-watched shows on Showmax in Kenya in 2022. The first season was also nominated for Best TV Show at the 2022 Kalasha Awards.

Kyallo Kulture is produced by Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios, which is also behind The Real Housewives of Nairobi, which broke streaming records for the most first-day views for any title on Showmax in Kenya when it premiered in February 2023, and continued to top Showmax charts and Twitter trends with every weekly episodic release.
