Nameless has teamed up with Esir’s younger brother Habib, Nelly the Goon, Dmore and Trio Mio-who is deemed Esir’s new-age reincarnation-on a new Gengetone track dubbed Bandana ya Esir. An obvious homage to Esir and his famous bandana accessory, the song is a breath of fresh air and sees the almost unlikely combination of artistes tribute the late star. The cross-generational track is the perfect way commemorate the legendary musician’s legacy and influence, and the video depicts just that.
Celebrity cameos from Wahu, Jua Cali, Nyashinski, Tallia Oyando, producer Musyoka amongst other familiar faces, all of whom had rubbed shoulders with Esir before his demise. Nameless’ rapping against the Motif di Don production is the cherry on top, as is Trio Mio’s characteristic witty verse that also see him take jabs at social media trolls who were not here with his recent involvement in a political party’s endorsement.
All the featured artistes bear writing credits on the song. It is mixed and mastered by Ogopa DJs, Esir’s old label.
