Mr Eazi’s artist accelerator program emPawa selects 2 Kenyans in top 10

Two upcoming Kenyan musicians have been selected for Mr. Eazi’s artist empowerment programme called emPawa 100.

The Kenyan two artists who will be joining 8 other musicians from different African countries for a masterclass organized by top Nigerian singer Mr. Eazi in Cape Town, South Africa next month are, Nikita Kering and Bey T.

The Sauce covered as the “London Town” hitmaker unveiled the mentorship programme for 100 artists in 6 African countries in Nairobi, in November 2018. The 27-year-old award-winning singer was also in Kenya at the time to promote his latest mixtape Life is Eazi – Vol 2: Lagos to London.

Nikita Kering is a budding 16-year-old singer who first came into the music scene in 2011 when she performed alongside gospel singer Emmy Kosgei during her album launch. In 2018, Kering released a single titled “Happy With You” which has garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube.

The second emPawa finalists Bey T, a 19-year-old singer and rapper who is of Kenyan, Eritrean, Ethiopian and American descent. This rising star has hits such as “Bad Bad” and “Facetime.” She sings and raps on down-tempo like beats captivating audiences with her catchy melodies and motivational messaging.

Others who made it to the final 10, include Ghanaian J.Derobie, Zimbabwean rapper Union 5, Zambia’s Trina South, Zambian Nemozm, Tanzania’s Sadimuma, Zambian Ruth Ronnie, Malawian George Kaluskusha and Nigerian Joeboy.

The project aimed at finding Africa’s next batch of superstars will provide hands-on training and mentorship to the artists selected. Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade aka Mr. Eazi stated during the launch of the project which is in partnership with Betting company BetPawa, the programme will equip these upcoming talents with the necessary tools they need to be successful like he was, these include funds, mentorship, contacts and in-depth knowledge of the industry.
