Kenyan Musicians Bien And Bensoul Nominated For The South African Music Awards

Kenya’s music industry continues to make waves on the international stage, with two of the country’s most celebrated musicians, Bien and Bensoul, earning nominations at the 30th Annual South African Music Awards (SAMAs).

Bien, best known as a member of the award-winning afro-pop band Sauti Sol, took to social media to announce the nomination of his debut solo album Alusa Why Are You Topless in the highly competitive “Rest of Africa” category at the SAMAs.

The nomination is a testament to Bien’s successful transition into a solo career, showcasing his versatility as a musician outside of the band’s familiar sound.

Joining Bien on the nomination list is fellow Kenyan artist Bensoul, who has also been nominated in the “Rest of Africa” category for his critically acclaimed album Lion of Sudah.

Bensoul, a former member of Sauti Sol’s Sol Generation label, has steadily carved out his own path in the industry, blending soulful rhythms with afrobeats and reggae influences. His nomination further cements his standing as one of Kenya’s most promising talents.

Bien and Bensoul are set to compete against some of the biggest names in African music. Other nominees in the “Rest of Africa” category include Nigeria’s Asake, Wurld, and Zimbabwean artist Edgar Muzah, adding an extra layer of excitement to this year’s awards.
