Family And Friends Pay Tribute To Comedian Fred Omondi

The entertainment industry is in mourning after the tragic loss of popular comedian Fred Omondi, who died in a road accident early Saturday morning, June 15, 2024.

Fredrick Odhiambo Omondi, affectionately known as Fred Omondi, was also the younger brother of award-winning comedian Eric Omondi. Eric expressed his profound grief by sharing a heartfelt video of him and Fred, simply captioning it, “Go well, brother.”

According to police reports, the accident occurred around 6:00 am near the Caltex petrol station on Kangundo Road. The crash involved a Mitsubishi bus, registration number KCC 126A, operated by Forward Sacco, and a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road.

“The accident involved a Mitsubishi bus (registration number KCC 126A) operated by Forward Sacco and driven by Stephen Maina of Kayole, heading towards the CBD. A motorcycle from the opposite side of the road (near Consolidated Bank) collided head-on with the bus. As a result, the pillion passenger, Fredrick Odhiambo Omondi, died on the spot,” stated the police.

The police further noted, “The driver sustained serious injuries to both legs and fractures to both hands. He was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.”
