Lapid Leaders Gives Students The Chance To Experience Africa

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.”                     -Oliver Wendell Holmes

I joined Lapid Leaders Africa with the ambition of becoming a great leader. My ambition went hand in hand with Lapid Leaders Africa’s vision which is “to lead self, lead marketplace and lead Africa.” As a caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly through a cocoon phase, so did I transform through Lapid. Acquiring skills eager to make a positive impact in the world.

To cement these skills Lapid has various programs that put students to the test. We have a project challenge day where we visualize one’s ability to lead themselves scaled out on a vision board, a business pitch to investors where we provide solutions to market problems showing one’s ability to work in a team and demonstrate the ability to lead the marketplace. In the last phase of our journey, we strive to demonstrate our skills in leading Africa. How do we do this?

At Lapid, we believe that the youth are Africa’s greatest asset in offering creative and innovative solutions to Africa’s problems. However, in order to provide solutions to a problem, one must understand the situation completely. We organize the annual African experience program to visit two countries in Africa and make them our classroom. We strive to understand their culture, their strengths, and their weaknesses. This help us be open-minded and empathetic making us more equipped in offering viable solutions for Africa.

This year we will be visiting Uganda and Ethiopia. We chose to visit these countries due to their unique culture and entrepreneurial spirit. We plan to visit museums in these countries to better understand their culture, meet leaders in business and leaders in the political scene.

“All travel has its advantages. If the passenger visits better countries, he may learn to improve his own. And if fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy it.” – Samuel Johnson. I trust that you will accompany us on this journey through monetary funding and help us make our project a success. Please find our account details in the poster above.
