There’s not a person in the world who doesn’t love brunch. But you know who loves it the most? Women, and for good reason. It is their well-deserved, perfect day to play dress up, and unwind in the company of their friends, after having had a long week. It is their me time and rightfully so and Kenyan women at brunch, never ever disappoint when it comes to style.
On Saturday 5th March 2022, The Athena mentorship program hosted its members and invited guests to an afternoon of food, drinks, entertainment, and most importantly, conversation, networking and unveiling of its four pillars.









The women turned up in their finest black/ gold theme dresses and looked every bit of dashing Queens that they are, to the colorful afternoon at the Zen Garden. Aptly themed “Let a thousand flowers bloom” the Athena assembly underscored the need for deliberate efforts by each participant – pillar unveiled – to act conscientiously and deliberately, heed the clarion call to Break the Bias and support women empowerment and justice for all at our every station.











It was a well-attended event by women professionals and experts of different ages drawn from across different sectors including energy, security, diplomacy, creative arts and humanities, the media, fintech, fashion, aviation, business women, fintech and captains of industry. A few gentlemen showed up too, to support the incredible women.










It was also graced by Ambassador, K. E Leligdonova of Slovakia, Ambassador Selina Nalika Haddai of Algeria, Natalia Aceredo Deputy Ambassador of Argentina and Josephine Gauld Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission, Others in attendance were; Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of ICT and Youth Affairs, Ms. Nadia Abdalla, Kanze Dena, Government spokesperson, Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Rebecca Miano, Kenya Power Board Chair, Ms. Vivienne Yeda amongst others.

















The Chief Guest, Energy Cabinet Secretary CS Amb. Dr. Monica Juma emphasized the need for solidarity, collective action and strong commitment in driving gender parity. In her message for the International Women’s Day (IWD), the Cabinet Secretary underscored the imperative for focused attention on the pursuit of equality and justice for women.
“As we convene today, as pillars of our society, it must be for the purpose of continuing to deploy efforts that answer this year’s International Women’s Day clarion call to “break the bias,” she stated.
