There’s a culinary revolution underway in Nairobi and its an exciting time to be a food enthusiast in the city. With each passing day, Nairobi’s vibrant dining scene expands, offering an ever-widening diversity of options that cater to every palate. Tucked away within the refined confines of Mirage Tower 3, on the 2nd floor, lies Caviar—a new culinary destination poised to captivate diners with its promise of exquisite flavors and unparalleled dining experiences. From the moment you step through its doors, prepare to embark on a foodie journey like no other.

As you step into the restaurant, you’re greeted by the sight of towering glass wine cellars, housing an impressive array of fine vintages. Their labels whisper tales of distant vineyards and aged sophistication, tempting you to open a bottle even before you take your seat. I highly suggest taking a moment to admire the wine cellars. Snap a few pictures—they’ll make for wonderful memories to cherish long after your dining experience.
Wine cellars, I believe serve as a testament to the establishment’s dedication to a wonderful dining and curated experience. The sight of rows upon rows of carefully selected wines, each with its own story and character, creates an aura of elegance and refinement.

The ambiance at Caviar is a harmonious blend of elegance and comfort. Velvet chairs in hues of yellow and red invite you to sink into their plush embrace, while meticulously laid-out tables showcase culinary masterpieces waiting to be savored. You almost don’t want to touch anything lest you mess it up.
Live greenery embellishes every corner, breathing life into the surroundings and infusing the air with a refreshing vitality. And then, there’s the vintage car on the wall—a must-see and perfect for a photo opportunity. Adorned with cascading flowers, it adds a whimsical touch to the space, a testament to the creativity that permeates every aspect of Caviar’s ambiance and interiors.

But why the name Caviar? Co-founder Allan Muigai explains that this is the only restaurant where you can indulge in the extravagance of Caviar, a world-renowned dish that consists of salted fish eggs, also known as roe. The delicate taste and velvety texture of this dish, provides a uniquely indulgent tasting experience reserved only for the most special of occasions. In essence, Caviar isn’t just a name—it’s a promise of sophistication, a celebration of culinary excellence, and an invitation to savor the extraordinary at this restaurant.

Here’s what awaits you at Caviar—dishes we wholeheartedly recommend from firsthand experience.

For starters, have the Beef and Macron Strip. The tender beef, seared to perfection, quite literally melts in your mouth, while the crispiness of the bacon adds a delightful crunch. It’s a personal favorite of mine. Alternatively, refresh your palate with the Crisp Apple Salad, boasting a refreshing start with its crisp, juicy apple slices.

When it comes to mains, the Rib Eye Steak stands out as a choice not to be missed. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare (my choice), ensuring the retention of its full flavor profile, with a caramelized exterior and a juicy interior that was simply irresistible. Honestly, you can never go wrong with steak in that form.

If seafood is more to your liking, on the menu, opt for the Herb-Crusted Salmon. Its tender flesh flakes apart effortlessly, revealing a buttery richness complemented by the crunch and bursts of freshness from the herb crust.

For desserts, you simply must try the gorgeous, rich, and delightful Sticky Toffee Pudding. Picture this: a warm, moist sponge cake, generously soaked in a luscious toffee sauce that delicately clings to every forkful. I must confess—I couldn’t resist licking my fingers clean and ensuring not a single crumb was left on the plate. Trust me, this dessert is an absolute must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. Writing about it makes my heart skip a beat.

Then, there’s the Molten Lava Cake. Oh my! The molten center oozing with pure chocolate is nothing short of heavenly—it’s a river of warm, velvety chocolate. Trust me when I say, this dessert is an absolute revelation for chocolate lovers and connoisseurs alike.

Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or a curious explorer of flavors, Caviar promises an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates the vibrant spirit of Nairobi’s evolving dining landscape.
