Photos: Farewell Reception in honor of The Outgoing Ambassador of Ireland to Kenya H.E. Fionnuala Quinlan

On Wednesday 9th August, the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya organized a Farewell Reception in honour of The Ambassador of Ireland to Kenya H.E. Fionnuala Quinlan, who is concluding her tenure. The event, held at her official residence in Muthaiga, was well attended by various Govt of Kenya representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, media and lots of members of the Irish community in Kenya.

Ambassador Fionnuala Quinlan became Ambassador to Kenya in June, 2019. She presented her credentials to then President Uhuru Kenyatta on 12th June 2019. The event also served as a platform to recognize her significant contributions to strengthening bilateral trade and fostering business partnerships between the two countries.

Through her visionary leadership together with her team at the Embassy, she has worked hard over the years in facilitating an environment conducive to bilateral trade, business opportunities, and partnerships between Ireland and Kenya, working closely with Business Ireland Kenya (BIK) that promotes trade and investment between the two countries.

BIK, an initiative of the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya, provides a platform for networking and sharing of information on the business environment in Kenya and Ireland, including local context, business opportunities, challenges, lessons learned, access to key partnerships and interpretation of evolving statutory and regulatory environments.

Ireland and Kenya share a long history of friendship and political co-operation which began with the establishment of Irish Missionary centres in Kenya. Both countries share a common and painful experience of colonization, struggle and liberalization, and both are committed to building free and democratic societies.
