There’s a newfound love in town gaining popularity (and) just in case you haven’t felt it, well allow us to introduce you to it- Country Music Festival. Don’t get me wrong- country music has been there (various outlets have themed nights around it and a number of radio stations have it on their regular programming’) but not the rise in concerts that appeals to all, that we are currently witnessing in the country.

Last Saturday, we enjoyed the spectacle of amazing live music, the experience of seeing songs we love brought to life surrounded by so much greenery in perfect weather accompanied by an excellent ultimate brunch distinct taste experience. Kenya Breweries Limited, through its beer brand WhiteCap Lager, together with Media Personality Jeff Koinange, hosted a Country Roads Festival at the lush Thika greens golf resort, a gated community situated in the suburbs of Thika town, right at the boundary between Kiambu & Murang’a Counties. Dubbed Brunch with White Cap at Country Roads, it was an afternoon (and evening) of beautiful summer scenery, amazingly mouthwatering food and drinks, cowboy looks all around and most importantly, fantastic country music courtesy of Sir Elvis, Kidum and Kareh B who truly brought the house down with their renditions and compilations.

It was raining Cowboys literally. Many decked out in their cowboy looks- from Cotton Bib Shirt to the belt to the jeans to classic boots and a hat to top it off. It was like walking into Nashville. The cowboy look is indeed having a bit of a renaissance right now.

The event is just but one of the many planned across Kenya throughout the year. According to KBL Head of Beer, AnnJoy Muhoro, Country Roads is an exclusively fun filled event organized & hosted by Jeff Koinange to celebrate Country Music, which compliments WhiteCap’s brand character. Boasting of consistent quality, White Cap is unique and full of character. It is the connoisseur’s beer.

One thing is for sure, people who love country music love it passionately and they love their distinct drink, white cap lager. The reasons were clear on Saturday; country music has a way of playing into culture, feelings, and emotions. Naturally, the way country music is, it’s melodious, something Sir Elvis, one of the performers, acknowledged and went on to say that most of the people here listen to country music and that it really has a huge fan base.
