Oats make a good source of food for sure. They are packed with natural goodness. Oats are a good source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, thiamine, beta-glucan and avenanthramides which helps to promote healthy circulation and besides that an oatmeal-rich diet helps reduce harmful cholesterol levels and boost the immune system. But they have a lot more to offer around the house than just food.

-Soothes irritated skin. Most beauty products contain oatmeal. Oats can help soothe sunburned skin or skin that has come into contact with poison ivy.

-It can be used to treat acne. Cook up some oatmeal let it cool then apply to the affected areas. Leave on for a few minutes and then rinse off.

-Can be used to moisturize skin. Run a lukewarm bath, add one cup of milk, two cups of uncooked oatmeal and a tablespoon of honey then soak in that mixture for 10 to 2 minutes. Your skin will be moisturized and rejuvenated.

-Can boost your work out. Eating oatmeal before exercising will increase endurance especially when eaten about 3 hours before a workout. Oats also help burn fat faster.

-You can get creative by grinding your oats in a food processor to make your own healthy flour which you can use to make pancakes or even bake bread.
