Sauti Sol has dropped another collaboration with rapper extraordinaire Khaligraph Jones. The track dubbed “Rewind” is a dedication to their story of success. The video is packed with throwback images and videos of Sauti Sol and Khaligraph Jones before their come up to fame. Before world tours and success, it seems that the boys of Sauti Sol were just like us.Singing of struggle and their drive for success, the track is a trip down memory lane and reminder that there is still more to achieve.
The track “Rewind” is different from their recent afrobeat releases “Afrikan Star” and “Girl Next Door” from their upcoming album Afrikan Sauce. With a punk rock feel combined with afrobeats, Sauti Sol has experimented with their sound. The electric guitar solo by Polycarp definitely carries the track. However, it seems the track’s overall feel is an obvious departure from their latest releases, which might be a disappointment to many. However, the dope visuals and hilarious one-liners more than make up for it.
