Today, Khaligraph Jones turns 28. Due to drop new music on his born-day in celebration of 1990, the artist is set to create new standards in the industry. In appreciation of his immense talent, here is a countdown of why one of Kenya’s finest lyricists is truly the O.G.

Khaligraph first entered Kenya’s music industry as a youngin’. After winning the Channel O Emcee Africa competition at age 19, Khaligraph’s career sky-rocketed to higher heights. Now 9 years later, Khaligraph is a mainstay on the Kenyan music scene. Collaborating with Sauti Sol, Petra, and newcomer Msupa S, the O.G has taken over the role of the godfather to the new names in Hip Hop.

2. He took charge of his life, to find success

Coming from a humble background, Papa Jones has had a steady climb up the music industry. The rapper began his career early on getting his start in cyphers, and now years later he headlines various concerts across East Africa. At age 28, Robert Ouko has only just hit his stride promising fans much more. It seems King Khali is here to stay for quite awhile.
