UoN Commencement dates announced

University of Nairobi

 

1. Commencement Dates – 2012/2013 Academic Year

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform the following groups of students that the commencement dates for the 2012/2013 academic year are as follows:

 

A. MONDAY, 1st OCTOBER, 2012
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th years in the Faculties of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Schools of the Build Environment, Arts & Design, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Computing & Informatics, Education (Arts & Science).

 

B. MONDAY 8th OCTOBER, 2012
2nd and 4th years in the Faculty of Arts, Schools of Business, Law, Economics and Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies.

C. MONDAY 14th JANUARY, 2013
Levels II, III and IV in the School of Pharmacy, Nursing Sciences and Dental Sciences
Levels II, III, IV and V in the School of Medicine (including Biochemistry and Medical Lab Technology)

 

D. MONDAY 11th FEBRUARY, 2013
3rd years in the faculty of Arts, School of Business, Law, Economics and Institute of Anthropology, Gender and Africa Studies.

 

2. TUITION FEES

ALL STUDENTS shall each pay tuition Fees of Kshs. 16,000/= per year, before or on the registration day, made up as follows:
a) Kshs. 8,000/= Direct charge for which needy students may apply for Bursary from HELB
b) Kshs. 8,000/- for which one may pay direct or apply for a loan from HELB

 

3. OTHER ADDITIONAL RELATED EXPENSES

Examination fees  3,000/- p.a
Medical fees 2,000/- p.a
Activity fees 1,000/-p.a
Computer Lab fees 3,000/- p.a
Student Union Fees 500/- p.a
           TOTAL             9,500/-

*SELF-SPONSORED (MODULE II) STUDENTS:

Fees to be paid through a Bankers cheque in favour of University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services (UNES) Ltd. or Directly deposit of Cash in the: UNES/UON Collection Account at Barclays Bank of Kenya, Westlands Branch, Nairobi account number 03-073-1021554

 

Students should fill in Bank paying-in slips fully identifying themselves by showing their names and reference numbers, and amounts paid. The original deposit slip should be presented to University officials on registration.

 

 

5. ACCOMMODATION AND CATERING

For those students who wish to use the accommodation facilities in the University’s Halls of Residence, they should apply online.

Cost of meals (Pay-as-you-eat-cafeteria System)

Kshs, 18,000 p.a

 

6. BOOKS

Students are advised to apply for a loan from HELB if they need it, for up to a maximum of Ksh. 9,000 in respect of books and stationary

 

7. All students are informed that all fees and other charges are payable at the commencement of the semester they are due. No student shall be allowed into lectures, examinations or participate in activities which have not been fully paid for.
