According to the global ranking of universities recently released by UniRank, University of Nairobi is 8th on the African continent. UoN features on the top 10 universities dominated by South African universities including the University of Johannesburg and the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. The University of Cape Town topped the list of universities in Africa. Globally, American universities took the cake with Manchettes Institute of Technology, Havard University and Stanford University taking first, second and third position respectively.
In Kenya, the list of top 5 universities only features one private university; Strathmore University at position 5. The list of top 5 institutions of higher learning from top to bottom include University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Egerton, Moi University and finally Strathmore University at 5th position.
