University of Nairobi to host RUFORUM Conference in line with Africa’s Agenda 2063

UON is set to host 2018’s Biennial Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) Conference.

The most comprehensive meeting point for diverse stakeholders in both agriculture and higher education sectors will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) from 22nd-26th October 2018. It is especially dedicated to graduate students and their supervisors, grantees in RUFORUM member universities and alumni. The platform for peer review, quality control, mentorship, networking and shared learning will bring students and industry heads together.

The conference will be co-hosted by RUFORUM; Commission for University Education; RUFORUM Universities in Kenya (University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Egerton University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Moi University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, University of Eldoret); Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries; research organizations; development partners and the private sector.

The main objective of the Conference is to provide an opportunity for African universities to demonstrate their capacity as knowledge centers that facilitate rural innovation to solve community problems in leading to achievement of Africa’s Agenda 2063. The Conference will, therefore, provide an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and others to share best practices, experiences, and lessons including how to best harness demographic dividends on the continent.

The Conference is expected to bring together over 800 delegates from across the continent with a large proportion of university students (BSc, MSc, and Ph.D.), and Vice-Chancellors, policy makers, industry, development partners. Key institutions will be represented at the meeting, including the African Union Commission, regional economic communities, higher education networks and institutions, research organizations, and others.
