British-Nigerian singer-songwriter UK Lukman Odunaike, popularly known as Not3s was set to perform in Kenya on 12th December at the Sounds from Africa festival but has had to cancel his appearance due to difficulties in prior preparations.
The 21-year-old rapper took his Twitter to announce the cancellation.
Not3s was scheduled to perform during the Sounds From Africa Festival that was set for Jamhuri Day at Diamond Plaza 2 in Nairobi, with other Kenyan artistes such as; Bey T, Kahush, Taio among those expected to perform.
His announcement was followed by a statement from Airbeat LLC, the organizers, that further confirmed the cancellation of the event. They attributed their decision to the spike in COVID-19 cases reported across the county.
âDue to the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in Nairobi, weâve made the decision to cancel the Sounds From Africa Event that was set to happen on December 12, 2020. This has been decided based on the governmentâs directive to curb the spread of COVID-19 and avoidance of huge crowds that come with international gigs,â read part of their statement. The concert
was initially cancelled earlier this year due to the rise in COVID-19 cases at the time. This recent cancellation comes as calls grow louder for President Uhuru Kenyatta to impose a second lock-down ahead of the Christmas and New Year period.
Not3s however, continues to count his blessings for the much dreaded year, despite his appearance cancellation. Fnatic, the leading global e-sports organization, a few weeks ago announced signing the British rapper, to its talent roster, marking the first time a UK musician has signed with an e-sports organization. Most widely known for his 2017 breakthrough
song, âAddison Lee,â Not3s will now be an integral member of the Fnatic UK Crew, a roster of UK-based professional e-sports gamers and content creators.
The UK Crew bands together players of the most community-driven gaming titles, which are most notably FIFA, Fortnite and Call of Duty. This addition of Not3s is also a part of Fnaticâs larger mission to continue pushing the boundaries of the gaming and e-sports sector as it
enters mainstream culture.
