Popular South African stand-up comedian Trevor Noah has been appointed the next host of ‘The Daily Show’. Trevor is set to take over from the larger-than-life Jon Stewart, who has been the face of the satirical show that takes on politicians and mainstream media outlets.
The New York Times reports Comedy Central announced Trevor will be the next host when Stewart retires end of 2015 after 16 years at the helm of the show.
Trevor Noah has made several guest appearances for the late-night show as a correspondent.
Comedy Central may have considered Trevor’s international outlook where his tour covers different continents and is often booked months in advance.
Trevors reaction:
No-one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at The Daily Show, we will continue to make this the best damn news show!
