This University has introduced a course on ‘how to be cool’

Do you always feel like you are not hip enough? That you are not part of the cool crew in campus, or from high school, for that matter? Or are you the type who wants to be ‘with it’ and has a serious condition of FOMO (Fear of missing out)? Then you need to sign up for a new course being offered at Tufts University Massachusetts.

‘Demystifying the Hipster’ is cause taught by Professor Jackie O’Dell and will examine the ‘history and the principles’ of what defines a hipsters.

“Students will become critics and sociologists of today’s hipster culture as they explore how hipster identity reflects a larger cultural anxiety,” states the course description.

Part of the course work will include reviewing film, fiction, fashion and music over the past 20 years, and the changing faces of the culture of hipster.

“Over the course of the semester, students will develop their own canon of hipster art. Students will become critics and sociologist of today’s hipster culture as they explore how hipster identity reflects larger cultural anxiety.”

The course has been approved by the Academic Review Board to count toward Arts distribution credit.
