#TheSeven ways to stay happy while single this Valentines

Happiness comes from the simple things we do every day, but happiness is not an automatic thing, it takes positivity to find happiness. Even as Valentine’s Day approaches, and you find yourself as the captain of the Baeless Batallion,  you can find happiness within yourself. Doing things that you enjoy can go along the way into boosting our happiness. When it comes to happiness, frequency beats intensity, it’s the tiny little efforts that brings forth bliss. Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Make a Gratitude List

The journey of life is not always a walk in the park or a bed of roses, it is at times full of ups and downs, we need to get to the point of looking back and not just to complain but to be thankful for who we are, where we are at and what we have achieved. The future is bright and there is more to look forward to, but why not first pause and be thankful? Make time to write down what you are thankful/grateful for. With that, you will look forward to the things ahead because you recognize that no matter the struggles of life, good things still happen. Let’s learn the art of gratitude.

2. Pay attention to the world around you

Nature is beautiful and can bring a smile onto anyone’s face. Pluck a flower you like, smile it and admire it, and be happy. The beautiful things are the God-given and are free for all. So take advantage and don’t let familiarity get in the way of enjoying them. Take advantage and notice what is around you, and don’t take that for granted. Enjoy the simple things in life.

3. Engage all your senses

We normally take things for granted, like the fact that we can see well, hear, smell, touch etc. why don’t we take advantage of what we have? Take time to smell the flowers, take photos of nature, hear the birds singing in the trees.  Feel the sun on your skin, the breeze in your face, the grass between your toes. Engage all your sense.

5.Hug the people you love

Make this a daily routine, hug your parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, friends, colleagues, husband, wife, children and the list goes on and on. We have each other for a reason and a season, appreciate the people you have and love them as much as you can. Life is short.

6. Surprise someone with a random act of kindness

Show you care to the people around you, be good to them, give a colleague a genuine compliment, smile to strangers, bring coffee to a street child, visit a sick friend, bring gifts to family members and much more. This will bring you a sense of satisfaction.

7. Reflect

The year is still young and we can still make a happy list for ourselves this year, so why not get down to it and make ourselves happy this year.
