Study Suggests That Facial Expressions Are Important During Sex

Facial expressions are effective when making love.

Research has discovered that a majority of people believe that facial expressions and body language are the best way to enhance intimate experiences.

A team of scientists at Missouri State University interviewed 78 participants between the ages of 18 and 69 – from a mixture of genders and sexual orientations – and many said that facial expressions were preferred to verbal communication between the sheets as it avoids “disrupting intimacy”.

The experts wrote in the journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour: “These findings have implications for sexual pleasure and how communication during sexual activity helps facilitate it.

“Though participants reported a perception that communicating pleasure served as encouragement and affirmation to their partners, most preferred to communicate pleasure nonverbally.”
