Students of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa lined up to take advantage of Kenya Orient’s mobile insurance cover, ‘Busted’. The innovative cover allows mobile users to subscribe to an affordable insurance cover that insures their handsets in an easy 1-2-3 step on their mobile.
CUEA students got a chance to try out the new product on Friday and a number of students signed up for the service. ‘Busted’ insurers smart phones from theft, loss or accidental damage.
Through a mobile platform, Kenya Orient has simplified the process of insurance by allowing users to check-in, fill in a simple form, get a valuation of their handset and sign-up all through a mobile site.
“With Orient Mobile, you don’t have to go to your insurance agent to register. You start and complete the process on your phone. Send an SMS with the word Mobile to 70707 and you will receive a link as a text message where you can easily get started,” explained Frida Mwaura, Product Manager.
The service will apply to over 120 mobile phone models that use GSM sim cards and are internet enabled. The clients for this service will pay a premium of 10 per cent of the value of the handset to be insured.
