Willy Oeba is an artist in every sense of the word; he is a self-proclaimed King of Poetry, musician, and a spoken word artist. He has been featured on several platforms as well as having performed at the BYOB Nakuru Summit where he even walked away with Ksh.100,000 in 2017. This year, the young Kenyan artist has teamed up with Safe Joe who was the first runner’s up in the first BYOB TV show to produce his new song “The Letter”.
“The Letter” also features fast-rising star Barbra Chege. Having started as a performer in Moi University, Willy’s star seems to be shining brighter. The new jam is an ode to those who’ve lost a loved one. Willy Oeba talked about the song and said, “This goes to all that have lost their loved ones. I wanted them to know they are not going through this alone.” He looks up to the likes of Kagwe Mungai and Fena Gitu whom he has hosted on his radio show on campus.
The song feels very poetic with witty lines that provoke a lot of thought. One of the lines goes, “Now they wear their watches on their left hand… ‘Cause they thought it wasn’t the right Time…Nothing is going right even the clock ain’t ticking no more.”
Safe Joe was among the top three finalists of the first BYOB TV Show. He had talked about producing music and working on such a project is a step in the right direction. He is also BLAZE mentor and his work is clearly paying off.
