Jidenna has taken his time before presenting any new music, but based on his latest release ‘Tribe’ the music is definitely worth the wait.
‘Classic Man’ is back with a new album ’85 to Africa’ and ‘Tribe’ is the first track from the highly awaited album. After major success with previous projects including his the 2017 album ‘The Chief’ and the EP ‘Boomerang’, the Stanford graduate is set to set fire to the scene combining his mixed heritage and eclectic style in his latest body of work.
Two years after his last project, life’s ups and downs have molded his perspective, coloring his music. Combining afrobeats, hip hop, and new wave RnB sound, genius Jidenna is set to raise the bar with his new musical offering.
According to a report by HipHopdX, “the Nigerian sensation is returning August 23rd with his second full-length album ’85 To Africa‘, and corresponding tour that kicks off October 2nd. ’85 To Africa‘ is said to be a culmination of events that Jidenna has faced since the release of his debut album ‘The Chief ‘ back in 2017. For starters, Jidenna was ordered to leave his rental home after the owner foreclosed (due to unmentioned issues) without notifying. With a U.S. tour approaching consecutively to his eviction, soon after Jidenna found himself without a home to return to, he went back to Africa.”
A global success, Jidenna’s new direction is set to shed more light on his life past, present and future. In the track, he speaks about his return to Wakanda aka the Motherland, egos, and narcissism. The visuals for ‘Tribe’ are trippy, and would make anyone believe they are on ecstasy. Filled with colour and overflowing with energy, the video is just a foretaste of what is to come. A little bit risque, yet highly entertaining, the video invites viewers into a little piece of Jidenna’s wild tribe. An honor indeed.
Jidenna is set to go a 33-city tour promoting the new album, finishing later in November 16th in Los Angeles, California. ‘Sufi Woman’ from the album ’85 to Africa’ is also out now.
