The much publicized upcoming Shoke Shoke Festival has been called off, much to the disappointment of the revellers who waited with baited breath for the concert.
Breaking the news of the gig initially slated for September 9, they announced in a statement: “It is heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the Shoke Shoke Festival scheduled for September 9th at the Uhuru Gardens due to unmet financial obligations. We understand the disappoint this may bring, and we genuinely apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
As if the fans’ disappointment was not enough, there is a yet another hurdle that they have to sit through.The festival organizers told fans that we would not issuing with immediate refunds as a bulk of the funds collected from ticket sales had already been utilized to compensate the artistes in the lineup.
“While we would love to provide immediate refunds, we want to be transparent about our current financial situation, as these funds were deployed to support the artistes who were an integral part of the festival lineup.”
Nigerian artiste Ruger was set to headline this edition. Two weeks the Shenseea – headlined Sababisha festival was postponed to a later date. The event was meant to be held at the same festival.
