Upon its success, it will bring policing and regulation in the sector, thus helping reform kits operations. The sweeping regulations cover licensing, operating under registered boda-boda associations, rider identification, road safety, first aid training, and channels to map out and delist rogue riders. For most Kenyans, regulation of this sector has been long overdue, and this petition is worthwhile. On change.org, the winds of change are blowing.
In a show of solidarity with women, President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday (08.03.2022) ordered a countrywide crackdown on boda-boda operators.
Speaking during the country’s celebrations to mark International Women’s Day on Tuesday (08.03.2022), President Kenyatta condemned the incident and said the crackdown is timely to rein in on rogue elements.
President Kenyatta also ordered the re-registration of boda-boda operators even as he reiterated the move is not aimed at stifling small businesses but rather to protect the lives of women and Kenyans at large.
