SAG Awards a big night for Black Hollywood as Black Panther wins big yet again

It’s award season and the just concluded Screen Actors Guild Awards was a great success for Black Hollywood.

The night under the stars was hosted by Meagan Mullally at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Hollywood. The prestigious event was attended by the creme del a creme of Hollywood’s creatives. Among the big winners of the night was Black Panther who won “Best Film Ensemble” and “Best Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.” The shocker of the night was when “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” scooped three awards. The Amy Sherman-Palladino creation is a comedy production set in 1958 New York.

The SAG Awards was a celebration of diversity as Rami Malek, Sandra Oh and even “Green Book” lead actor Marshala Ali won awards on the memorable night. The thrilling family drama “This Is Us” was also feted beating out “The Handmaid’s Tale” for the Best TV Drama Ensemble.

As per usual, the fashion was among the major talking points for the event. Among the invited guests to show up and stun was  Lupita Nyong’o who donned braids and all black outfit. Lady Gaga stole the show in a white regal ensemble. Danai Gurira’s box haircut and fresh make-up also made quite the statement. The multi-talented Gaga was nominated for “Lead Actress In A Film” but lost out to Glenn Close.
