Rapper J. Cole Signs With Canadian Pro Basketball Team

Rap star J. Cole is still going hard for his basketball dreams when he is not in studio.

For the second consecutive year, the North Carolina-bred rap icon will be playing professional basketball.

Following his stint with the Rwanda Patriots BBC in the Basketball Africa League, Cole is reportedly taking his talents north of the border to the Canadian Elite Basketball League to suit up for the Scarborough Shooting Stars.

The Athletic‘s Shams Charania broke the news Thursday night (May 19) of Cole’s next basketball endeavor as training camp began this week. The league is set to host its season openers on May 26 with the Shooting Stars paying a visit to the Guelph Nighthawks.

“J. Cole is signing [a] contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, the rap star’s second consecutive year playing professionally,” he wrote. “CEBL training camp began this week, with the season opener on May 26.”

J. Cole continues to work on his game in hopes of one day getting a shot in the NBA. Even at age 37, he’s been known to work out with NBA pros and got some run-in scrimmaging with the Orlando Magic last September.
