Veteran Vioja Mahakamani actor Gibson Gathu Mbugua known for his role as a prosecutor, sent out a medical appeal a couple of months ago and President Uhuru Kenyatta is among those who have heeded the call.
Prosecutor is appealing for financial help to get a kidney transplant needed Ksh 6,000,000 to undergo the procedure at Mediheal Hospital.
According to a news report by Nation, after his appeal went viral, President Uhuru Kenyatta offered him Ksh 2,000,000 in the ongoing fundraiser.
“President Kenyatta, who is a good friend, did send his personal donation of Sh2 million. We as a family and the committee thank him for the support,” the actor told the press during a fundraiser held in Nairobi on Saturday.
As reported by The Sauce, the popular actor has been ailing since 2020 and is set to undergo a kidney transplant at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret in July 2022.
“Gibson has been managing diabetes for over 20 years now, but some time in November 2020 his kidneys failed hence he has been going for dialysis twice a week,” the appeal reads.
The Ksh 6,000,000 would cover the actor’s medical bill, inclusive of his post-surgery treatment and that of the donor they had identified.
