NRG Radio has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, but now it seems the local radio station is keen to put the past behind them.
The radio station has unveiled its new breakfast show presenters combo and it seems that they did not go far for the new talent. After being embroiled in serious court battles with former Breakfast Club hosts Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe. As reported by The Sauce, “Radio personalities Kamene Goro and her co-host Andrew Kibe are head to Kiss FM after a controversial stint at NRG Radio. According to reports the two are making major changes with a move to one of Kenya’s biggest morning shows, Breakfast with the Stars on Kiss 100. While Kamene and Kibe will be expected to bring their A-game, Kiss 100’s morning show according to April Geopoll survey, reaches over 2 million millennials whereas NRG’s breakfast show only garnered 800,000 listeners. Word also has it that it will be a complete makeover at the Radio Africa studios with newly refurbished studios and hosts.”
Despite being slapped with a non-compete and being barred from going on-air after her swift move to Kiss 100 by her former employer, it seems she was more than eager to start at her new place of employment. Opening up on social media, Goro shared that she is hard at work, taking “no days off!” Branded in a Radio Africa staff badge, Goro has remained adamant that she is still focused on achieving her dreams, despite her recent legal woes. She captioned the image, ” I don’t exactly know what the future holds for me at this point, but I can guarantee I’m moving forward with aggressive Grit, anchored fully in Grace.”
And now only days later, it seems that NRG Radio is unphased unveiling DJ Exclusive, radio veteran Mwalimu Rachael and the only surviving member of the original Breakfast Club DJ Kace as the new trio of the morning show. Suited and booted, the trio urged listeners to “get ready for the chase” in the official announcement. According to Business Today, NRG had reassigned radio presenter Rachel Muthoni, popularly known as Mwalimu Rachel, to anchor the Breakfast show alongside DJ Kace following the shock departure of Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe.
Both Mwalimu Rachael and DJ Exclusive hosted shows on NRG Radio prior to their official move to the Breakfast Club. The trio went on air on July 1st, making it a first for DJ Exclusive as a breakfast show host. The show dynamics will be tricky with 2 deejays on the show, as Mwalimu Rachel leads the trio as lead presenter.
Only time will tell if the new show will keep their audience entertained.
