On Friday the 20th of April 2018, Multimedia University lost yet another student to a road accident. This marks the third incident of loss of comrades lives due to road accidents within two years.
The 23-year-old Ronald Kiprono Kirui famously known as Yusuf lost his life at around 7 pm Friday evening on the busy Nairobi Southern Bypass on the way to Ongata Rongai. This was after the car he was in alongside two others lost control slightly past the Ngong Road interchange.
The three were traveling from Nakuru heading to Rongai when their car lost control. According to the two survivors (Boniface Ngeno and Edith Cheluto), the deceased was seated at the back with an unfastened seat belt, when the accident occurred. Edith and Boniface who are not Multimedia University students were seated in the front. Narrating the incident, the duo recalled that the vehicle lost control and hit the pavement then veered onto the opposite side of the dual carriageway. Yusuf was thrust out of the car and according to Police reports, he sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
The two survivors were rushed to Kenyatta hospital and later discharged while Yusuf’s body was taken to City Mortuary then later transferred to Montezuma Monalisa funeral home along Mbagathi road.
The General will be laid to rest on Saturday the 28th of April in Bomet East.
Various members of the school fraternity shared their condolences via Twitter.
