Miss World Kenya Maria Wavinya to auction her ‘lucky’ heels to buy sanitary pads for needy girls

Miss World Kenya 2019 Maria Wavinya will be doing something that has not been done before.

The 18-year-old beauty queen will be live auctioning her ‘lucky’ pair of heels to buy the much needed sanitary pads for girls and women in less fortunate communities as part of the Sister Speaks ‘Heels 4 pads’ initiative.

The pair of heels that she will be auctioning are the heels she wore to the Miss World Kenya finals and won as well as trained with for the upcoming international pageant.

The auction is currently underway till Saturday (09.11.19) and there will be a live auction on The Trend Tv show on NTV hosted by Capital FM’s Amina Abdi Rabar this Friday (08.11.19) from 9 pm. Viewers will be able to bid for the heels via the #Heels4Pads and the winner who will be announced on the Sister Speaks social media platforms will not only win this pair of shoes, but he or she will also get to meet the beauty on the collection day,  Sunday 10th November 2019 at the K1 Klub house.

To make a bid simply send your donation to the paybill number 530100, account number H4P. All the proceeds from the auction will facilitate the purchases of sanitary towels which will then be distributed to needy girls and women in various communities.

The Sister Speaks ‘Heels 4 Pads’ initiative is part of the reigning Kenyan queen’s Beauty with a Purpose project which every contestant at the Miss World is expected to participate in.  The Beauty with a Purpose program is a registered charity and a non-profit organisation associated with Miss World. It raises money and participates in humanitarian projects across the world.

During the Miss World competition, the Beauty with a Purpose challenge awards the contestant with the most relevant and important charity project in her nation. Two Kenyan beauty queens have won the beauty with a purpose challenge, these are, Natasha Metto in 2010 for her jiggers eradicating project and Idah Nguma in 2014 for her cleft lip in children treatment project.

Wavinya will be leaving the country on the 20th of November for the month-long international pageant in London where she will compete against contestants from 130 countries. The winner of the pageant will be crowned on the 15th of December.
